Once your web site is live with Site Launcher, you will have access to customization tools allowing you to make changes to your web site in real time. The tools we offer will help you to improve your search engine rankings, your earnings, and the usefulness of your web site. We hope that you will find the customization tools to be easy to use. Below, we provide an overview of how to use these tools along with how they can help you.

As for using the customization tools, you must first login to the partner center. On the bottom left hand side, click on the image titled "customization tools" - which will take you to the following page:

* This is what the Nutrition.com owner sees, when you login, you will see a list of all of the active web sites that you have live with Site Launcher.

Next, simply click on the link of the web site you want to customize, and you will land on the customization page for the respective web site.

Changing Your Title

Your title is the text displayed at the top left hand side of your web site and it can be the first thing users see when visiting your site. Currently, your default title is simply set to your web site name.

There are 2 key advantages to writing a custom title:
1) To make a clear point to users about what your site is all about
2) To give search engines more text and keywords to analyze

Our advice is to write your web site name at the beginning of your title and then add an additional sentence. Be aware of the types of ads that are displayed on your web site and select two to three key words or products to highlight in your title. For nutrition.com, the title says Nutrition.com - your resource for nutritional foods, vitamins, diets, proteins, and more.

To instantly have a new title displayed onto your web site - simply type your title in the form field under title, and click update at the bottom of the page.

Changing Your Keywords

Web sites can have key words associated with them in their meta tags. These key words can be analyzed by search engines when ranking web sites. Each Site Launcher web site, by default, has 2 key words. For example Nutrition.com had two key words - nutrition, and nutrition.com. The goal of the key word tool is to allow you to add several custom key words to be associated with your web site. These key words will not be displayed on your web site, but they will be included within your web site code so that search engines can reference your key words.

Our advice is that you select between 5 and 7 key words to be associated with your web site. You may want to have one of those key words be your domain name without the .com, and another be your domain name with the .com. For your other key words, you want to choose words or phrases associated with the products and services that are being promoted on your web site. You may also want to use the same key words you used when writing your custom title. For example, for nutrition.com, the keyword list is nutrition, nutrition.com, nutritional foods, vitamins, proteins, nutrition school

To instantly have new key words for your web site, simply type your key word list in the form field under key words, and click update at the bottom of the page. Be sure to enter a comma after each key word, as we did in the example of the key word list for nutrition.com. Finally, one key word can consist of two words, in that instance, you would put the comma after the second word, not after each word.

Viewing Your Search list

As you probably know, there is a search box along the bottom right hand side of your web site. Often, when users can't find a link that is of interest to them, they will search for whatever they are looking for in the search box. On the customization tools page in the partner center, by clicking on the "Search List" link, you will see the terms people have searched for over the past 60 days. This will show you things people are looking for and not finding directly on your web site. So, you can use the information from the search list to better help you decide which suggested categories to promote on your web site.

Our advice is to keep an eye on the search list and when you see terms consistently showing up, add those terms as suggested categories.

To see your search list for a respective web site, simply click on the search list link which is listed on the customization page.

Adding Suggested Categories

To increase your earnings, you can add suggested categories which will be links on the right side of your domain. This is a way to select which types of advertising categories to promote on your web site. For example, the nutrition.com owner could add other categories related to nutrition which currently aren't showing up on his site. If you select to add suggested categories, they will remove the related categories and show up above the popular categories. You can select up to 12 categories.

Our advice is to monitor what people are searching for on the search list, and rely on your own knowledge to come up with 6 - 12 generic terms that you think will be of interest to your users (12 is the maximum number of suggested categories that can be displayed on your web site). Be sure to double check your spelling when adding a new category and select generic categories that are common enough to have advertisers associated with them. When we say generic, we mean that if you have a site about food - enter the category hamburger restaurant as opposed to famous fast food hamburger restaurant. If, on the search list, you notice a few users searching for a very obscure term, it may not be a good idea to add that term as a category, as you want to add terms which will be popular. As time goes by, you can continue to monitor your search list and come up with new suggested categories or replace old ones. The suggested categories will always show up on your site, in alphabetical order. As for an example, the nutrition.com suggested categories are calorie calculator, fiber diet, fruit juices, low fat foods, nutrition school, nutritional food, potassium, proteins, skim milk, vitamins . Finally, if you notice a term already showing up as a related category, than you probably don't need to add it as a suggested category as well.

To instantly launch suggested categories on your web site, simply type your category list in the form field under categories, and click update. Be sure to enter a comma after each category, as we did in the example for nutrition.com.

Adding Content

You can add content to your web site which can help to make your web site more of a resource while having additional text for the search engines to analyze. When you add content, it will be displayed beneath the advertisements which will help for your web site to retain its earnings.

Our advice is to write a simple paragraph that highlights the products being promoted on your web site. You may also want to briefly talk about the meaning of the word behind your web site. As for an example, check out the bottom of www.nutrition.com for some ideas for your content.

To add content to your web site, simply type your content in the content form and click update. You are limited to 800 characters and you are also responsible for your content so be sure that you are the author of the content that you are adding.

Adding A Footer

You may want to add a footer note at the bottom of your web site. This footer can be to mention that your web site is for sale, or it could be used to publish your email address so that questions can be addressed to you. You may also want to link to another site which you own, or you may just want to type a message.

Our advice is to write a footer if you need one, and take advantage of the email or link feature offered.

To instantly add a footer, write the footer in the footer form field. After writing the footer, if you want to publish a link, enter the link in the link field. Be sure to enter http:// before your link, or else the link won't work. So, if you wanted to link to Site Launcher, you would type http://www.sitelauncher.com. You also have the option of adding an email address instead of a link. When adding an email address, simply just enter your email address and it will be published as a link on your web site.

Adding a Description

When search engines list your web site, often beneath your link will be a description about your web site. This description can be authored by you. Your description will not show up on your web site, but will be accessible to major search engines.

Our advice is the keep your description short and simple. Write one sentence that gives a quick overview of your site. The description can be very similar to the title that you wrote for your site. For example, the nutrition.com owner could write Nutrition.com is your internet resource for a variety nutrition products.

To add your description, simply type your description in the description form and click update. You are limited to 200 characters.

Page Targeting

Site Launcher gives you 3 page targeting options which you can control on your own. The first page targeting option is the default option, which targets your page to the advertisers that our pay per click supplier decides are the most relevant and profitable. The second option, allows you to set your domain to a generic two click page which focuses on links to popular categories. This option, on the landing page doesn't do any targeting as it simply lists the same popular categories regardless of what the web site is. The third option allows you to target your page to a respective key word. This option allows you to suggest targeting to our pay per click supplier. When our pay per click supplier accepts the suggestion, your page is then targeted to the new keyword. If our pay per click supplier does not accept your suggestion, your website will have the default targeting. It can also be the case that our pay per click supplier initially accepts your suggestion, but then reverts to the default targeting later - and vice versa.

To change your page targeting, scroll down to the bottom of the customization page in the partner center, and select the page targeting option you want and click update.
